Build an itemised two-year cost estimate
Start with the fee notice for your intake. List tuition, deposits, accommodation, meals, materials, travel and application fees. Keep refundable amounts separate. Mark which costs are estimates and which are confirmed.
If you will leave work, add the take-home pay you expect to forgo while studying. Build a second scenario for higher living costs or a delayed job start. Keep the cash you need during study separate from your total economic cost.
Compare financing terms
Ask the lender for the repayment schedule, interest accrual during study, disbursement dates and fees. Compare total repayment across offers with the same loan amount and term. Verify scholarship eligibility and timing before subtracting an award from your budget.
Read the report for your programme and campus
Record the reporting year, cohort, number seeking placement, number placed, recruiting sectors and the roles described. Check how the report defines compensation and which measures it publishes. A median and a highest offer describe different parts of the distribution.
If you are targeting a specific function, look for examples of recruiters and roles in that function. Ask how students access internships and career preparation. Keep internship outcomes and final placements in separate rows.
Make a decision you can explain
Compare three options using one table. Add columns for cost range, curriculum fit, location, relevant internship or career evidence and unresolved questions. Call the admissions office to close the biggest gaps. Keep the current offer deadline and refund policy beside each option.
Frequently asked questions
Which costs should I include alongside tuition?
Include housing, meals, relocation, travel, required materials and financing. If you pause work, consider forgone income separately.
How do I compare placement reports that use different definitions?
Compare the cohort, reporting period, compensation definition and placement participation first. Record missing details as questions for the school.
